Adult First Aid

American Heart Association Heartsaver Adult First Aid classes are offered twice each year, in April and September. Groups of 4 or more may schedule special classes throughout the year. Cost for the 3 hour course and book is $45.  Discount available when taken with the AHA CPR class listed above.

This course is designed for people with no medical background and certifies the individual in how to manage illness and injuries across the lifespan (children and adults) in the first few minutes of an emergency until professional help arrives. Topics include first aid basics, personal protection, medical emergencies, injury emergencies (including bandaging and splinting), and environmental emergencies. Re-certification is required every 2 years.

Pre-registration is required.

Pediatric First Aid

This course is designed for people with no medical background and certifies the individual in how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes of an emergency until professional help arrives. Topics include child safety, first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies. This course also reviews the proper administration of asthma inhalers and EpiPens for severe allergic reactions. This course also teaches tips for the prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children. This course is ideal for schools, teachers, childcare professionals, daycare centers and camps.

CPR

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR classes are offered twice each year, in April and September. Groups of 4 or more may schedule special classes throughout the year. Cost for the 3 hour course and book is $45. Discount available when taken with one of the AMA First Aid classes listed below.

This course is designed for people with no medical background and certifies the individual in Adult, Child and Infant CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and choking emergencies. This course also certifies the student in the proper application and use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Re-certification is required every 2 years.

Babysitters Training

Babysitter's training is offered each year in early June. This course is designed for boys and girls ages 11 to 15. Cost, payable the day of class, includes book and snacks. Participants need to bring a sack lunch. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to pre-register, call the Education Department at 257-4370. Class size is limited.  Cost is $45

Childbirth Education

Couples interested in learning more about pregnancy, childbirth, and infant care are encouraged to attend any of the following classes. All classes are taught by experienced obstetrical nurses. Tours are also available for older brother(s) and/or sister(s) if you desire. Experienced couples are included the last 3 nights of the class. Please call the Birth Center to arrange for a tour, register for a class, or for more information.

Each 4 night class meets from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Pre-registration is required.

Cost:  $65.00 for complete course or $50.00 for Refresher Class
Cost is waived for mothers scheduled to deliver at FCMC.
