The American Heart Association (AHA) offers a variety of courses ONLINE http://onlineaha.org/courses. The following courses are available online; skills practice and test-outs may be completed at FCMC.
AHA Heartsaver Courses:
Successful completion of an AHA Heartsaver Course includes three parts:
Part 1: AHA Heartsaver online course
Part 2: Hands-on skills practice session with an authorized AHA Instructor within 60 days
Part 3: Hands-on skills test with an authorized AHA Instructor within 60 days
Floyd County Medical Center is pleased to offer Parts 2 and 3 for Heartsaver courses. Practice and skills testing will be scheduled to meet the needs of each student.
The cost for Part 1 varies by course and covers only the online portion; this fee is processed separately through the AHA. When Part 1 is successfully completed, students will print out a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is required to proceed with Parts 2 and 3.
The cost for Parts 2 and 3 is $50 per student for each Heartsaver course (E-card included). Exception: The cost for Parts 2 and 3 for the combined Heartsaver First Aid and CPR AED course is $65 per student (E-card included).
Students are encouraged to call the Education Department (641-257-4317) to schedule Parts 2 and 3 prior to purchasing Part 1.
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Courses:
Successful completion of an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) course involves a blended learning approach. This includes:
Completing the on-line HeartCode BLS course content (including exam).
Completing the classroom session with an authorized AHA Instructor within 60 days. This session includes watching the HeartCode BLS video, skills practice, and skills testing.
Floyd County Medical Center is pleased to offer the classroom session. This session can be scheduled to meet the needs of each student.
The on-line AHA HeartCode BLS course has a separate fee processed through the AHA. Upon completion, students will print out a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is required to proceed to the classroom session.
The cost of the BLS classroom session is $60 per student (E-card included).
