Midwife means “with woman”. Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) provide women’s health services, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.
Floyd County Medical Center wants your birth experience to be the best it can be.
Certified Nurses Midwives help more than 300,000 women give birth each year in the United States.
At FCMC, your visits with the Certified Nurse Midwife are special and hands-on. Midwives manage low-risk pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. Midwives are trained to recognize the difference between normal changes that occur during pregnancy and symptoms that need extra attention. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or problems during labor, your midwife will work with your primary care physician to make sure you get the best and safest care for you and your baby.
Have a Question?
Our midwife would love to connect with you and answer any questions you may have about pregnancy, labor and delivery, birth control and family planning, menopause or any other women’s health needs. Your question will be sent to a secure server and will be kept completely confidential. Questions will be responded to on Facebook, not to you directly.
Midwifery Services
Our Certified Nurse Midwives provide hands-on, personalized care for women at every stage of life. Judi and Danielle will partner with you on your journey from annual exams to family planning and labor and delivery.
Midwives provide very individualized care, whether you want an unmedicated, low intervention labor or if you think you may want to use pain medication, your midwife will give you the information you need to make a decision that is right for you. Your midwife will provide many childbirth options and comfort measures including massage, rhythmic breathing, aromatherapy, music, birthing ball, & other techniques to help you cope with pain relief and discomfort. Sometimes labor presents itself with such intensity for long periods of time that women wish to use medication. Midwives will discuss those options, and can prescribe medication should that be your choice. You may choose to use a combination of comfort measures to reach the birth experience you desire.
